ABOUT US
The Beginning
TrekCraft can trace it's roots back to Halkun's original video "Building Megaobjects in Minecraft". The idea; Push the new game Minecraft to the limits by creating a full scale Enterprise-D.
The original build was generated by taking traced images of Ed Whitefire's schematics, and running them through a custom built schematic generator which would create the ship one layer at a time. Halkun published a video documenting his efforts and now it's one of the most viewed Minecraft videos in history.
Halkun's video generated such a stir that he not only appeared in the Minecraft movie, but also inspired a group of fellow Trek fans to push the early alpha game into a multiplayer server; MineTrek.
Putting the "Mega" in Megabuilds
Early in 2012 a group of players turned Halkun's experiement into an open community project. Over the years thousands of players visited the server to see the cobblestone skeleton evolve into a fully realized build. Complete with interior, turbolifts, and sets. MineTrek also broke out into other Star Trek and Sci-Fi ships like the USS Voyager and USS Defiant. By 2020 MineTrek had over 75 realized builds on the server.
In 2016 build team at MineTrek also sought to do the unthinkable; Recreate the magic of Halkun's original build while applying all of the modern tools and techniques learned over the last 7 years. This build became known as the "V3" project (V2 was a testbed for planning). By 2019 the V3 had a complete system layout, hallways, numerous detailed rooms, and surpased the quality of the original build. It marked the pinnacle of building in the pre-modded era.
Alas, "all good things must end". In 2021 the remaining build team left MineTrek to create a new community and a new server from sratch. This new community would employ custom mods, thousands of new textures, larger scale builds, and new tools to reach the next level of megabuilding. Today, MineTrek remains online as a time capsule to the efforts of houndreds of fans to bring Trek closer to reality.
The Next Generation
In 2021 TrekCraft began, and today is creating the largest scale fully relized ships from across numerous properties such as Star Trek, Star Wars, Halo, and more.
In 2024 the team made the decision to remain a community space, but to close the public Minecraft server. The work and dream continues in various forms, all brought together by our amazing Discord community.
