Installation Instructions
Step 1: Install Prism Launcher
Prism is our recommended launcher for TrekCraft. It makes installing and updating modpacks much easier than doing it manually.
- Download Prism here for your system
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen setup guide
- Need help? Prism has great setup guides here
❗Using a different launcher? You can still install TrekCraft, but we can only provide limited support❗
Step 2: Install the TrekCraft Modpack
Download the pack using the green button above, then follow these steps:
- Easy method: Drag and drop the downloaded .ZIP file onto the Prism launcher window
- Manual method: In Prism, click "Add Instance" → "Import from Zip" → Select your downloaded file → "Import"
Step 3: Configure Your Instance
- Right-click on the TrekCraft instance → "Edit" → "Settings"
- Java: Click "Auto-detect" and select Java 21 (Prism can download it for you if needed)
- Memory: Set maximum RAM to 6000-10000MB (depending on your computer)
Click "Launch" to start the game!
Step 4: First Launch
The game should start normally and show the TrekCraft menu. If you encounter issues, try these common fixes:
- Java Error (Code -1 or 0): Make sure Java 21 is selected in your instance settings
- Packwiz Error: This usually means a poor internet connection. Wait a few minutes and try again, or disable Packwiz temporarily
Step 5: Final Setup
Before joining the server, make sure to:
- Enable the TrekCraft resource pack in your resource pack settings
- Adjust your settings to your preferences (graphics, controls, etc.)
The client is optimized for building large ships, but feel free to customize it to your liking!

Common Questions
Here are answers to frequently asked questions about the TrekCraft modpack.
A mod keeps re-enabling itself!
This is Packwiz (our updater) working normally. To disable a mod permanently: Right-click your instance → Edit → Settings → Custom Commands → Uncheck the Packwiz box. Re-check it later to re-enable automatic updates.
Can I use a different launcher?
Yes, but we can only provide limited support. You'll need to download mods manually from our mod list, and won't receive automatic updates. We strongly recommend using Prism for the best experience.
How do I navigate the server?
Press "M" to open your map, or visit map.trekcraft.org for a live map. Use "/gamemode spectator" to fly through ships easily. You can also use our new mod SHAFTT by typing "/transporter" to open a transport menu.
Everything is too dark!
Press "G" to enable gammabright for better visibility.
KNOWN ISSUES
- MultiMC is not updating to current versions of Fabric properly, and thus the TrekCraft pack will fail to launch despite appearing normal. We recommend all users move to Prism Launcher which is based on MultiMC, but is more actively developed and maintained.
- Apple Silicon (M1/2/3/4) based devices do not support specific graphics API's used by modern Minecraft. Specifically connected textures (Continuity), and smooth fonts (Caxton) do not run properly, and may cause crashes or text not rendering. Removing these mods will usually fix any issues.
- Older GPU's, like NVIDIA 900 series cards likewise do not support modern API's used to render connected textures or smooth fonts. Disabling the Connectedness, and Caxton mods may be required to launch the pack.
- Systems with less ram (16GB or less), or with older GPU's without much VRAM may find errors enabling the resource pack resource reload failed error's are common. Some users can fix this by giving their game more RAM, but this may not always work.
- Running the client on a HDD is NOT recommended and may result in errors, crashes, or very long load times. Running TrekCraft on an SSD is strongly recommended.
